St. Mary School at 905 St. Mary's Boulevard, Charlotte, MI 48813 US - Philosophy

Philosophy
At St. Mary School each student who comes to us has their own set of gifts and talents from God. We try to prepare them to use these gifts to the best of their ability in this world. Our goal in Catholic education is to impart upon our students the skills and knowledge necessary to apply Christian values to all areas of their lives. Therefore our aims are: * to teach as Jesus did * to provide an atmosphere of caring for each individual child resulting in a sense of family * to instill a sense of mission and concern for others by acquiring a sense of Christian responsibility for the community in which they live and for the world community * to prepare students through updated religious instruction and curriculum to become involved in bringing about God's Kingdom on this earth * to help each student develop the power to think constructively, to solve problems, to reason independently, and to accept responsibility for self-evaluation and continuing self-instruction * to encourage parents and teachers to share the privilege and responsibility of Christian education by witnessing to the faith we profess. Parents are the primary role models for their children. Their belief in prayer, worship, and respect for authority will have a strong influence on the faith and moral development of their child. The cooperation and support of teachers, parents, and administrative personnel is essential for the development of a faith community. (1992)
